Description
Dual-Line Reversing Valve Kit (DR45) for Automatic Lubrication Systems
The DR45 Dual-Line Reversing Valve Kit is a pressure-activated control component used in dual-line (dualine) automatic lubrication systems. Its function is to alternate lubricant flow between two main supply lines, creating the pressure reversal required for dual-line measuring valves to cycle and discharge lubricant to each lubrication point.
What Is the DR45 Reversing Valve?
The DR45 is a pressure-operated dual-line reversing valve designed specifically for use in Farval / Bijur Delimon dual-line lubrication systems. Unlike electrically actuated valves, the DR45 reverses automatically when system pressure reaches a preset value. This pressure-based reversal is fundamental to the operation of all dual-line measuring valves.
Without a reversing valve, a dual-line lubrication system cannot function. Measuring valves rely on alternating pressure between Line 1 and Line 2 to complete a full lubrication cycle and deliver lubricant.
How the DR45 Reversing Valve Works
During system operation, lubricant is pumped into the DR45 reversing valve. The valve directs pressurized lubricant to one main supply line while simultaneously relieving pressure from the opposite line. When system pressure reaches the preset reversing pressure, an internal pilot piston shifts the valve spool, reversing flow to the opposite line and completing one half-cycle.
Each reversal causes dual-line measuring valves throughout the system to stroke and discharge lubricant. Alternating pressure between the two main lines ensures consistent, balanced lubrication across large systems with many lubrication points.
Pressure Control and Adjustment
The DR45 reversing valve operates within an adjustable pressure range of approximately 500 to 3500 PSI and is typically factory-set at 1500 PSI. Pressure adjustment must be performed while the system is operating and under pressure.
Incorrect pressure adjustment can prevent proper reversal or cause internal damage. For this reason, pressure settings should only be adjusted by qualified personnel following system commissioning or troubleshooting procedures.
What’s Included in a Reversing Valve Kit
A DR45 reversing valve kit or module typically includes:
- DR45 pressure-activated reversing valve body
- Pressure gauges for both main supply lines
- Limit switch or proximity switch for reversal confirmation (model dependent)
- Mounting bracket and hardware
- Ports for use in return or non-return dual-line systems
Kit configurations allow easier installation, monitoring, and integration into existing dual-line lubrication systems.
Typical Applications
- Steel mills and rolling mills
- Mining and aggregate equipment
- Cement plants and kiln systems
- Pulp and paper machinery
- Large conveyors and heavy industrial equipment
When to Use a DR45 Reversing Valve
- When operating a dual-line lubrication system
- When system size or distance exceeds single-line limitations
- When redundancy and continuous operation are required
- When lubrication must continue despite partial line blockages
When a DR45 Is Not Required
- Single-line or progressive lubrication systems
- Injector-based or resistance-type lubrication systems
- Small systems with limited lubrication points
Key Benefits
- Enables pressure-based cycling of dual-line measuring valves
- Supports very large lubrication networks
- Improves system reliability and uptime
- Protects system components through controlled pressure reversal
- Allows continued operation even if a lubrication point becomes blocked
